Asthma is of various types. The disease is described as chronic inflammation of the lungs as a result of which airways are reversibly narrowed. The severity of asthma depends on the symptoms and the level of your asthma. The natural asthma treatment mainly comprises usage of medicinal plants.

An asthma attack can get more severe if the victim is suffering of cold or the flu. There are many medicines that can cure the flow of air through the corridors of lungs, thus allowing you to have certain amount of oxygen to bear the attack. Herbal cure or in other words natural asthma treatment are the most effective for curing asthma. The herbs fumigate the passageways and relax the muscles around them. This increases the air flow.

Biovent is a common medicine for asthma. It contains medicinal plants and other ingredients. It will clear up the air tubes in your throat thus making it easy for you to breathe. If used daily it can enhance a proper respiratory functioning.

Beside this the other natural asthma treatment includes home remedies. The patient can be made to sweat through steam bath, hot footbath, hot hipbath and sunbath. This will relieve congested lungs.

Honey is considered as an effective medicine for asthma. During the time of attack a bowl full of honey should be kept under the nose of patient. He will breathe easily after sometime. You can also take one teaspoon of honey with water 3 times a day. You can also mix cloves to it. This is very good natural asthma treatment.

You can also have steaming ginger tea with minced garlic cloves two times a day. A glass of milk with turmeric powder is helpful if drunk in the empty stomach.

Massage a little mustard oil with camphor over the back and chest. You can also inhale steam from boiling water that is mixed with caraway seeds

You can take a concoction of radish, honey and lemon juice and have a teaspoon of it in the morning daily. Boil a teaspoon of licorice root tea with hot water. Strain it and drink it. It is considered one of the best natural asthma treatments.

Inhale fresh air everyday. And exercise will reduce congestion of the lungs. Spiegel seed with warm water can be taken twice a day to cure asthma. Soak dry grapes at night and transfer them in cold milk for half an hour. Chew them one by one. This is an effective remedy. You can also soak fresh grapes with seeds in water. Remove the seeds and eat the grapes.

Mix a little dry ginger powder and one gram of black pepper in one teaspoon of molasses of honey and have it. You can make a solution of honey, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, half a cup of milk, and some garlic cloves. Drinking this everyday will provide you relief from asthma.

Heat borax and dilute it. Keep it in the bottle and take it daily.

There are only some of the natural treatments. There are many more. But they are better remedies than administering medicines, as the latter can have many side-effects.

Top Vacuuming Tips For Allergy and Asthma Sufferers

Click Here for Top Vacuuming Tips For Allergy and Asthma Sufferers

Allergy and asthma sufferers are extremely sensitive to allergens and particles floating in the air. We're talking about your usual suspects: pet hair, dust, and pollen. That's why owning a vacuum cleaner for an allergy sufferer is more than making your carpet look nice for company, it's a way to control the condition.

Knowing what to look for in a vacuum is integral because not all vacuum cleaners are created equally. You want to make sure that you have a vacuum that is powerful enough to reach deep down into the carpet fibers to reach allergens like dust. Keep in mind that you should go slowly when vacuuming carpets because going too fast runs the risk of not giving the vacuum enough time to suction the debris and dust. Using a fresh bag each time is another way to make sure you get the best suction possible.

Many allergy sufferers opt to have hard wood floors instead of carpet, with the idea that it will be better for them but dust will accumulate on hard floors as well. Use a vacuum that can be used on hardwood floors, it should have the ability to switch between hard floor and carpet settings.

Vacuuming upholstery is also highly recommended, especially in the presence of pets. Utilizing attachments that can be used on furniture is a great way of removing allergy triggers. Make sure to get into the corners of cushions and around all pillows and mattresses. Don't forget to vacuum the spots you can't see, such as those behind furniture. Although it's out of sight, it's still present.

Owning a vacuum won't cure allergy problems but it is a way to help control your health. Vacuuming regularly can drastically reduce allergy triggers in the home which will lower the dependence on medications. Take control.

3 Important Tips on Adult Asthma Symptoms You Must Know About

Click Here for 3 Important Tips on Adult Asthma Symptoms You Must Know About

Some people think that since they never had asthma when they were young, they will never have asthma at all. That is very wrong. Even if most symptoms appear during childhood, there are also adult asthma symptoms that can appear. If you are in your 20's and above, and you experience asthma symptoms, you have adult asthma. Here are 3 important tips that you must remember about adult asthma symptoms.

1. Get accurate diagnosis. Symptoms like wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing, chest pain, and others can be symptoms of a different disease. Therefore, if you experience any of these, you must get an accurate diagnosis by consulting your doctor. You cannot get the proper treatment unless accurate diagnosis is made. The doctor will have to rule out all other possible diseases that can cause such symptoms. Also, you will undergo lung function tests to get an accurate adult asthma diagnosis.

2. Know your specific trigger. Like childhood symptoms, adult asthma symptoms are also triggered by something. Asthma triggers can be anything from cigarette smoke, animal dander, perfume, or dust to exercise, cold air, stress, viral infections, or bacterial infections. For better asthma control, you must be aware of the trigger that you are reactive to. Once you know the trigger, you can avoid exposing yourself to it. Thus, you will be experiencing less adult asthma symptoms.

How will you identify the trigger? You must be a keen observer to know what triggers the symptoms. The key here is knowing the time and pattern of the onset of adult asthma symptoms. Do you experience asthma symptoms only during winter or cold months? Did the symptoms appear a few minutes after starting your new exercise regimen? Did you feel the symptoms when you played with your friend's pet dog?

3. Stick to your asthma care plan. The asthma care plan will be established by you and your doctor. With your doctor's help and supervision, you will know if symptoms are starting or are getting worse. You will also be talking to your doctor to know what to do in case of an adult asthma attack. In your asthma care plan, you will categorize your asthma symptoms in three zones: green (good asthma control), yellow (slipping asthma control), and red (danger). You will also be educated by your doctor on identifying where your symptoms fall in these zones. And the proper management for each zone will also be discussed. An asthma care plan is often overlooked by asthma sufferers. But this plan is very important in ensuring that you follow the doctor's prescribed treatment. This plan will also help you monitor the progress of your asthma management.

Tips on How to Exercise If You Have Allergies and Asthma

Click Here for Tips on How to Exercise If You Have Allergies and Asthma

The myth that asthma limits physical abilities is not true. Exercise is an important activity for our everyday life and people with allergies and asthma are usually able to exercise. Research has also shown that regular moderate exercise as part of a professionally guided programme of asthma management helps prevent asthma attacks. Exercise should however, not be done during times of sickness.

Here are some tips to help you prevent asthma and allergy attacks during exercise:

1. Pack your medicine in your gym bag: The type of medication will depend on your condition- either allergy or asthma. People with allergies may take antihistamine tablets before the activity while those with asthma can use the inhaler before the exercise. If you take the medication 15 minutes before the exercise, you should be all right.

2. Consider your environment and the weather: For those who have dust mite allergy, you may consider exercising outdoors because of household mites but those who are allergic to grasses or weeds should consider an indoor location during certain seasons.

Check that the air is not too cold or too dry. This can irritate the bronchial tubes. Warm, moist air generally allows people with asthma to exercise successfully. Do all you can to avoid exercising in areas with large amounts of chemicals. Industrial areas are a perfect example, or heavy traffic areas with high levels of exhaust fumes. Keep indoor exercise free of irritating odours.

3. Participate in exercises that require shorter bursts of exercise: these exercises tend to cause less trouble than those that involve long periods of running. For people with asthma, swimming is the ideal exercise. This is because, with the high humidity, you mouth won't dry out. Baseball, tennis and golf is also good.

4. Breathe through your nose, not your mouth: If you open your mouth to gasp for air when exercising hard, you are drying out the back of throat and it becomes cool, which triggers your asthma. So keep your mouth closed and breathe through your nose.

5. Take time to warm up: It is recommended that you should not push yourself beyond your capabilities. Begin your exercise programme carefully. Take time to warm up and then start out slow but steady. Starting out fast will make you wear out fast.

6. Take precautions seriously: For those who have insect sting allergies, here are some tips if you are exercising outdoors.

Do not wear bright coloured clothing, cologne, perfume or lotion.

- Wear a medical warning bracelet.
- For emergency treatment, carry a syringe with adrenaline.
- Make sure your exercise location is close to a healthcare facility.
- Avoid areas such as flowerbeds and trash cans where wasps and bees like to hide.

Your understanding of your health conditions will give you the ability to fight them off before they attack. You also can easily treat them with little or no complications. Asthma Acupuncture - An Ancient Healing Method

Click Here for Asthma Acupuncture - An Ancient Healing Method

Asthma acupuncture has been used since ancient times as a healing method for illnesses such as asthma, with its roots in the Chinese culture. While modern medicine may be able to effectively treat the symptomatic problems of asthma, and in some severe cases, may even save your life, but modern medical science does not have a complete cure for asthma.

This is because asthma is more than just the outward symptomatic sickness of wheezing, coughing, sneezing and breathing difficulties. It has to do with your overall health, especially your immune system, to fight off allergies which trigger asthma.

Acupuncture has traditionally been used to promote general wellness. It boosts your bodily strength so that your body is better able to withstand the daily onslaught of pollution. The root of acupuncture stems from thousands of years ago in the Chinese ancient art of healing and health. It is based on the principle that our entire body is interconnected electrically. According to the ancient belief, sickness such as asthma, is caused by the improper flow of "chi" (energy within the body) throughout your body. It is stuck by a blockage somewhere in the body, and it is the skill of the "sifu" (known as the Master or Healer) that is able to determine the areas where the block occurs. Disease is a direct result of the imbalance of the "chi".

Acupuncture is a highly skilled art mastered by the "sifu" to unblock the problem areas with the use of needles gingerly inserted right beneath the skin at strategic areas, and put the balance back into the body and enable the flow of energy to all areas of the body. If it is done properly, it can send "chi" to the lungs to strengthen the respiratory system to be able to ward off asthma attacks. When the flow of energy is balanced, the body is strengthened and a healthy body functioning optimally, is able to combat disease.

Most people will begin to notice results almost immediately after several acupuncture treatments. However, for long term results, you will need to keep going for the treatment until the asthma is completely cured. It is best complemented with your regular asthma treatment under the close supervision of a medical doctor too.

According to the ancient science, "Chi", the flow and balance of good energy, does not only concern the body. It concerns the environment too. For example, if a building or office has bad "chi", the workers are going to be experiencing poor health too, such as work related asthma.

Childhood Asthma Tips

Click Here for Childhood Asthma Tips

Asthma is a growing problem throughout the world and many children are now experiencing asthma symptoms such as wheezing and being short of breath.

Although medical science gives us a number of different drugs that help us deal with some of the symptoms of asthma none of them are really a cure and simply treat the symptoms while sweeping the remaining problems under the carpet.

The unfortunate thing is, we live in a world that gives us a lot of reasons to have allergies. It is no longer just a simple matter of seasonal allergies that comes from different flowers and trees being in bloom or our pets causing a problem with their dander.

Today, we have to deal with ever-increasing problems of environmental pollution and with household products that are nothing short of toxic to those of us that have breathing problems or who have sensitive skin. If your child is suffering from asthma induced by allergens or exercise there are a few things that you can do to help.

One of the most important issues is to keep your house as free as possible from the allergens which are causing your child problems.

This would not only include removing chemicals and other items from the home, but it could also include running a high quality air filter such as a HEPA filter at all times in the home. Of all places, the bedroom should be kept as free as possible from these allergens because we spend more time in the bedroom sleeping than anywhere else in the house.

Another thing that you may want to try is making sure that your child is hydrated at all times. Dehydration has been a major contributing cause to exercise induced asthma and by simply drinking enough water throughout the day, you can actually cut down on asthma symptoms.

Allergens tend to stick in a child's hair and get transferred to a pillow case and this can cause breathing problems at night Some symptoms can therefore be helped by bathing and rinsing allergens out of a child's hair before bedtime

Asthma is never easy and is worse for a child but there are some steps we can take to help our kids live a normal happy life.

How Air Filters Can Help Reduce Asthma and Allergy Triggers

Click Here for How Air Filters Can Help Reduce Asthma and Allergy Triggers

According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, one in four Americans suffer from asthma or the effects of allergies. Eliminating or reducing household triggers is essential to minimizing exposure to dangerous airborne pollutants. Whether it is asthma, seasonal allergies or indoor allergies, one of the most simple and cost effective methods of reducing molecular and particulate triggers is to purchase and implement the use of high quality air filters.

How is Clean Air Related to Asthma and Allergies?

James T. Li, M.D. of the Mayo clinic had this to say about air filters, "Air filters that remove small particles - such as high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters - are effective in removing allergens from the air, without posing any ozone concerns. To work effectively, filters need to be cleaned or replaced regularly, according the manufacturer's instructions." Doctor Li is also chair of the Division of Allergic Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine.

With this in mind, it is important to consult with your doctor about your specific condition and circumstances. Speak with your doctor about all of your symptoms and be sure to take note of any sources of allergens that may be making your asthma or allergies worse. Some of the triggers for asthma and allergies are:

Keeping the Air in Your Home Clean

It is important to ensure that the air quality in your home is as clean as possible. There is not a great that can be done about outside allergens when you leave your home. You do however have a high degree of environmental control over your home.

  • Ensure that your vents are cleaned and dust free. Vacuuming regularly and properly disposing of the bags or dirt helps to lower levels of irritants and pollutants.
  • Regularly cleaning the surfaces of appliances, counters, and furniture will further clean your home as well.
  • Using cleaners that are mild but still reduce bacteria and viruses from flourishing is ideal as well.
  • Ensure that areas that store chemicals paints and cleaners are well ventilated and not near your ventilation or air-conditioning unit. Chemicals like bleach or paint thinner can affect and aggravate asthma and allergy symptoms.
  • Tobacco smoke is another culprit, as is any smoke or fumes from burning materials.

The Importance of Air Filters

The biggest but perhaps most important step to take is to choose a high quality air filter. While price is not always a function of quality, pick up the best filter you can afford; do not skimp. Air filters reduce indoor pollutants like particulate and molecular triggers by trapping them and preventing them from reentering the air in your home.

Filters that have been treated with anti-microbial actives inhibit the growth and spread of mold and bacteria in the air. Airborne bacteria and mold are two pollutants that can severely affect those with and without asthma and allergies.

Choose a pleated air filter with carbon to trap or capture molecular triggers such as vapors from chemicals or airborne pathogens. Typical filters, without carbon or another proven molecular active, do not capture chemical vapors.

Make sure to replace your filters at, at least the intervals recommended by your manufacturer. For cleaner air replace the filters more often.

Jim Gates, CAFS, is the brand manager for Quality Filters, Inc. ( http://qualityfilters.com/ ), a leading manufacturer and distributor of high quality home and commercial air filters. The company's products are available online at BuyFilters.com ( http://buyfilters.com/ ).

Asthma Management - Quick Tips to Follow

Click Here for Asthma Management - Quick Tips to Follow

Asthma management is as important as taking medication for this chronic disease that involves the inflammation of the air passageways. Although inhalers are crucial in reducing the tightening of the muscles in the bronchial areas and minimizing symptoms of asthma, they are not really helpful in preventing further attacks. It is vital that people suffering from this disease realize that asthma does not really have any cure. If you are interested in living a healthy life sans flare-ups of this chronic respiratory problem, you have to come up with an asthma management plan. Below are some of the things that you might want to include in your plan to manage asthma properly.

When it comes to asthma management, prevention should be on top of your list. To ensure that you no longer experience wheezing and other annoying asthma symptoms, it would help if you know what triggers your attacks. If sudden climate changes cause your flare-ups, then it might be better if you check out the weather channel every now and then. However, if cat dander or tobacco smoke leaves you gasping for air, then stay away from furry pets and quit smoking. It is also important to note that food and airborne allergies as well as upper respiratory infections can trigger asthma. So, in your asthma management plan, you have to determine your allergic reactions to certain food and airborne substances and try to keep your body strong and healthy.

Exercise, meditation and breathing classes should also be included in your asthma management strategy. Although some experience asthma due to severe exercises, this does not mean that you have to stay away from all physical activities. In fact, it would be quite helpful if you begin your exercise regimen slowly to build up your resistance to asthma attacks. Furthermore, exercise can also keep your lungs and heart in tiptop shape. Again, staying healthy is a crucial part of your asthma management.

Lifestyle changes should also be included in your asthma management program. Studies have shown that too much stress, deep emotional feelings, and even lack of sleep can also increase your risk of getting asthma attacks. So, make sure that you are well-rested and relaxed for most of the time. Whenever your job, studies, or family life is causing stress, you better start finding a way to de-stress. Include all of these tips in your asthma management plan and you will see a remarkable improvement in your respiratory health in no time.

Asthma and Children - Protecting Your Children With Allergies With These Simple Tips

Allergens are one of the main causes of asthma triggers. Protecting your children from allergens goes a long way in giving your children a normal life.

So let's start with the children's room first. Cover all pillows and mattress in specially made zippered protective covering. Enclose all bed springs with plastic. This will prevent dust mites from hanging around.

Make to wash your bed sheets and pillow cases weekly. Put them in hot water at around 60 degrees Celsius or 130 degrees Fahrenheit. You might also consider tumble drying them at the same temperature for around 30 minutes to kill the dust mites.

I'm sorry but your child simply cannot have stuffed toys around. They are simply a great collector of dust and even regular washing will remove their allergy properties

If you have installed a humidifier in your children's room, make sure that you clean it daily for these devices collect dust and molds easily.

You may want to give your pet another home that is outside of the house. This is because dander can be a difficult allergen to remove. If you really must keep them inside, you may choose to restrict them to a part of a house. Restrict them from going near objects that trap dander easily like carpets and or pillow covers.
